Campfire Ban Now In Effect.

Effective Noon, Wednesday, August 17th, 2016 and Until Further Notice: A campfire ban is in effect for all areas within the West Howe Sound Fire Protection District. This includes all fires whether for warmth, cooking or for ceremonial purposes and all beach fires. Fires in stoves or barbecues using gas or briquettes are allowed.

How this helps us: This one may seem like a no-brainer, but we still encounter houses/businesses that either don’t have an address posted or it’s located in a spot where it cannot easily be seen from the road.   Most of the times when you call 9-1-1, time is of the essence.

Campfire Ban Lifted – August 31st 2015

From the Office of the Fire Chief: Effective Noon, Monday, August 31st, 2015: The campfire ban is lifted for areas within the Gibsons & District Fire Protection boundaries. All fires must comply with SCRD Bylaw #631 and Town of Gibsons Fire Regulation Bylaw #660 remains in effect with restrictions on all open burning.
